Senior IT Field Engineer – South East Region (Permanent, Field-Based)
We are hiring a Senior IT Field Engineer to support a variety of client sites across the South East. This is a field-based role involving proactive IT maintenance, infrastructure review, and hands-on implementation. A strong focus is placed on network and systems security, detailed documentation, and client advisory.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and support infrastructure: firewalls, switches, servers (on-prem/cloud), PBX, storage, M365, backups, Hyper-V/VMware, endpoint security, etc.
Conduct security reviews across network and server environments, ensuring patching, access control, and configuration compliance.
Provide site administration and update technical documentation, including ITGlue and KBs.
Recommend and implement infrastructure improvements and liaise with stakeholders on planned changes (e.g., firewall upgrades, server work).
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong hands-on experience with servers, firewalls, networking, virtualization (Hyper-V/VMware), and Microsoft cloud products (Azure, Intune, M365).
Solid understanding of network security, VPNs, VLANs, ACLs, and endpoint protection.
Ability to assess and document complex IT environments and communicate clearly with clients.
Preferred Certifications:
FortiGate NSE4, CCNA, Microsoft Azure/Intune, Windows Server, Virtualization platforms
Backup and cybersecurity knowledge is highly valued
Experience using ticketing systems like ConnectWise is a plus
