POS, Security and Communications Support
The role involves the installation, configuration, testing, and support of broadband and IP network equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of critical systems like point-of-sale, security, and communications. Job Duties and Responsibilities
Install telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi access points.
Configure network equipment to support IT and PoS systems in retail environments
Install, terminate, and test data cabling (Cat5e and above) and associated hardware.
Trace and troubleshoot cabling including fibre optic and multi-conductor twisted pair
Support remote monitoring and diagnostics for customer networks
Job Skills and Requirements
Aptitude or background in electronics, telecommunications, or data networking
Knowledge or exposure to IP routing
Familiarity with Ethernet networking, PC operation, and computer OS
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Basic understanding of network wiring (Cat5e and above) and termination
Basic understanding of low voltage electronics (relays, contacts, AC/DC voltage, resistance)
Ability to use hand tools and test equipment effectively
Some experience in basic 250V electrical installations (e.g., sockets, trunking, wiring, MCBs) is a plus
Experience in construction, use of power tools, and reading technical manuals and schematics is beneficial
Willingness to travel to customer sites, including some out-of-hours work
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Education and Qualifications
Certification or coursework in networking or communications technology (e.g. CCNA, CompTIA Network+)
